High back sofa

"A sofa can go beyond being merely a piece of furniture and become a room of its own within a room – this was the idea that prompted Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to design Alcove Sofa. With its unusually soft seat and backrest upholstery, as well as the high, flexible side and back panels, Alcove Sofa creates the frame for such a comfy, safe and secure world, a place for relaxed withdrawal from the hustle and bustle of life.
Materials: chromed tubular steel, metal frame with belt upholstery, panels made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic, seat and backrest cushioning: polyurethane foam and polyester wool, set of cushions: filled with microfibers and polyurethane foam."

Spoil yourself...

I am a rose lover.

There is something about roses that make me happy, that make me feel feminine and that make me smile.I love everything about roses; I even forgive the thorns and accept them as a necessary evil.

I am a lover of all things white, so Iceberg roses are very much my thing. They flower well in the south of France and are a popular choice with local gardeners. My Icebergs have given me much joy this year and so it was with much sadness that I cut the last blooms this morning. I will have to prune the bushes right back as soon as the olive harvest is finished and with this in mind I picked every last one.

They have been soaking in my laundry sink so I am going to enjoy arranging them (the best part) and placing them about the house.
Or shall I put them all in my bedroom and really indulge myself?

Spoil yourself with flowers this weekend xv

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone has the loveliest of holidays alongside their family and friends!

Tank Desk from Signalement

"The height-adjustable desk from the Tank Collection radiates lightness and elegance just like a ballerina who barely touches the floor. The fineness is emphasized by the urgent smoothness which combined with the sturdy materials add strength and weight. The desk sparkles with energy and provides you with a feeling of design that never ends. The desk is made of MDF. Standard finish: white high luster varnish. All desks are individually numbered."

Table Settings for Dinner - Happy Thanksgiving!

This posts features table settings from Zara Home. Just
in time for the holidays to give you some ideas for how
to spruce up your table for family and friends. Although,
the themes are not centered around Thanksgiving, it's
still excellent inspiration all around.

For those of you living in warmer weather,
perhaps an outdoor dinner would be good.

This table setting feels like spring but there are no
rules for setting your own table for any season.

Why not bring some festive color into the mix?

A more formal setting with a twist.

Here's something a bit more ecelctic.

The same table and chairs in a totally different look with
just putting a table cloth on with different plates and bowls.

This setting reminds me of Napa Valley and wine country ~
understated elegance. It's like a fancy picnic.

For those of you who like a more modern edge, have no fear.

Here's a table setting that is leaning
towards an ethnic but organic style.

Louis Ghost chairs and solid white plates.
The ultimate in clean and modern design.

Comfortable with all white? Here's
a clean but romantic version.

Black and white never goes out of style. The small
black and white teacups are super cute.

The pattern on the placemat gives the overall setting
a neat edge. Nothing like a little drama!

This is a totally cute setting for kids!
Stars and flowers? Why not?

If all you have at home is mismatched
chairs - it can still work beautifully.

A closer look at the table setting.

A laid back and modern setting in fall colors.

I absolutely love this setting - very organic and natural.

You can put your own twist on your table!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving
and I'll "see" you on Monday.

Les Cahiers du Cinema

La Gloire de mon Pere - one of my French favourites

The French cinema magazine, Les Cahiers du Cinema, has listed their top 100 films of all time. Interestingly enough the list does not include any British made films but predominately Spanish, German, Italian, some American and of course many French films.

I like to think of myself as a true film lover so when I read through this list I was embarrassed to realize that I had only watched a handful of them. How long is it going to take me to watch (or re-watch) 100 films? Probably two years or more... Can't wait though, I love a movie as much - if not more- than my magazines.

To see the complete list click here but for now I am starting with the top 10.

Citizen Kane - Orson Welles

1941 - Flashback interviews that chronicle the life of Kane and reveal the secret meaning of his last word, 'Rosebud'.

Night of the Hunter - Charles Laughton

1955 - Harry Powell marries and murders women for their money

Rules of the Game (La Règle du jeu) - Jean Renoir

1939 - A look at bourgeois life in France at the beginning of WWII

Song of Two Humans (L'Aurore) - Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau

1927 -The story of corruption and redemption in a small German town

L'Atalante - Jean Vigo

1934 -On board romance and the ups and downs of newlyweds

M - Fritz Lang

1931 - drama/thriller based on the life of a serial killer

Singin' in the Rain - Stanley Donen & Gene Kelly

1952 - musical comedy with wonderful choreography

Vertigo - Alfred Hitchcock

The Children of Paradise (Les Enfants du Paradis) - Marcel Carné
