Wishful Thinking

Do you ever wish you were somewhere else? For no reason in particular, I have been itching to get away. I feel like a need a break... a change of scenery. I think everyone feels this way at some point. I was looking through the pictures on my computer and came across this image from Flickr of a street in Portugal. It would be so great to be riding through the cobblestone streets on that adorable scooter!

If you could be anywhere else right now, where would you be?

Forever 10 to 2...

I know that time does not really stand still and I do know that we can't turn back time but in my garden you can cheat a little. If you sit for a while, wander for a time, read a book or daydream away it will always be 10 minutes before 2.00 by my clock. This French  'beauty' never changes -  her hands are forever poised in the same position, promising a long lazy afternoon ahead.

To loose track of time this weekend - that's my plan, xv.

Happy Weekend!

I am beyond jet lagged but it feels good to be home. This weekend I'm hoping to win a Roger Vivier clutch from Ideeli. Please help a girl out by signing up for a membership with this exclusive invitation link. But what I would really love this weekend is a Laker win and a trip to the NBA finals. A girl can only wish for both. Happy weekend everyone, hope all your wishes come through this weekend. =)

My New Bench

My new breakfast room is almost finished. After searching for several months I found a wonderful nine foot long antique Belgian Table with an incredible iron base. The iron work is so interesting that I didn't want to hide the front of it with traditional chairs.
(I know the photo leaves a lot to be desired - taken on my cell phone)

So imagine my surprise when I saw this great bench at Wisteria and it was covered in a vintage grain sack like linen! The perfect size too!! So I ordered it!
It just arrived this morning and its perfect!!

I chose the red stripe versus the blue; but I really like them both!
Still waiting for my chandelier (Niermann Weeks) before the big reveal!
But wanted to share what I think is a wonderful find at a great price!
(and did I tell you I also had a 20% off coupon?)

Fabulous Room Friday: 5.29.09

I will be starting a new, regular feature entitled "Fabulous Room Friday". Each Friday, I will post a fabulous room that I find inspiring. Hopefully, it will brighten your day or maybe even inspire you to start a weekend project. Please accept my apologies for not posting very much this week. I have had my hands full with my new pup and it has been a very busy week with work.

Back to the subject at hand, the first fabulous room to be featured in this series is by none other than the amazing Amanda Nisbet. I was browsing through her portfolio the other day and noticed that she had uploaded some new projects. This fantastic room was one of them. I think it is just the coolest room for a young girl. I love how the drapes play upon the height of the room. The colors are so bright and cheerful. Would Amanda have it any other way? Of course not! The pillows are very fun and add texture. I think the bedspread is fabulous and the monogram style is not only unique, but age appropriate. Amanda finishes the room off with little details like a silver Moroccan poof, a little yellow end table, pink lantern, and a stream-lined desk and chair. I think any girl would be lucky to have this room!

Personality Hotels in San Francisco - Chic Hotel Design

If you're ever thinking of taking a jaunt to my
neighborhood of San Francisco, there's a wonderful
string of boutique hotels called Personality Hotels.
They offer a great range of rates ($79-$750 which is
quite a range) and all of their hotels are very near
Union Square which is a highly desirable and convenient
location for many visitors who come to San Francisco.

The beautiful facade above is the Hotel Steinhart.

I love this huge green chandelier that
hangs in Hotel Vertigo.

Hotel Frank has very lovely decor
with lots of turquoise accents.

The turquoise carries through all of their rooms. I love
how this space has an open plan with a lovely tub in the
background. Aren't the hanging pendant lights fabulous?

Here's another layout with the but in front of the window.
What a place to take a bath!

Here's a room with a more traditional layout although the
television is in a fabulous place for those who love to lounge
in bed to watch tv (which I love to do on trips at the end of
a day to unwind.)

Here we are at the fabulous Hotel Vertigo with a decidedly
sophisticated modern design of their rooms.

Love the pops of Orange in this hotel's theme.

Their bathrooms are very new and up to date.

Love their sinks.

What a cool tall bench with contrasting orange
fabric on the backing of the bench.

And last but not least, I'm totally in love with this sitting
area. The orange couch and especially the organic wood
side table and coffee table are fabulous. It's a great blend
to make an eclectic yet sophisticated look.
