Jamie Drake ~ New York City Loft

I bet you guys thought I was done with Drake :P Nope.
No such luck yet... I think I have a variation of the
seasonal OCD that M&Co termed except with subjects
and posts ^_^ Since I have this disorder anyways, maybe
I ought to feature 1-2 designers every month with other
posts interspersed. What do you guys think?

Another gorgeous flat from Jamie Drake. I really love
brown rooms and the way he just used a simple backdrop
with colorful furniture just really works. Makes me want
to snuggle in that brown velvet sofa to read a book.

This is a cozy little room. Perfect to hang out with the girls.

I admit, this room is VERY bright. But I
still wanted to share it.

And one of my favorite colors, Purple. I really love Jamie
Drake's rug. The rug is one from his own line.

Jean-Louis Deniot ~ And a Stunning Parisian Antiques Store

What did I say about my obsessive compulsive-
ness? Here is a continuance of more Jean-Louis
Deniot work :-) My mom always told me the
Chinese version of "Jack of all trades and master
of none" described me well. In her words, she
would always say that I had a whole collection
of knives but none of them were sharp ^_^ It
took me a while to figure out what it actually
meant. So I think my obsessive compulsion
allows me to study just enough depth to be able
to talk about almost any subject - but I'm not
an expert at any of them...So on with my most
recent obsession.

ISn't this antique store just Stunning?! Deniot
did the interiors and somehow it fits perfectly
with the color of the all the antiques to create
drama. I just stared for a while at these photos
when I first saw them.

So what's the verdict? Love it or what?

New Trailer for The Hills

The second half of The Hills' third season is slated to start on March 24th. It is one of my guilty pleasures and after this long television draught thanks to the writers' strike, I can't wait for it to return. Check out all the drama here.

Jean-Louis Deniot ~ Genius French Designer

Ok, I must admit that I have some strong
obsessive compulsive tendencies. I've found
another designer to "stalk." Monsieur Jean-Louis
Deniot ~ FABulous Parisian designer who now
has offices in Paris and in New York City. This
chateau just outside of Paris was featured in
House Beautiful magazine September 2004.
I am Totally in love with his interiors!

Get a load of this cover!

Set in the countryside right outside of
Paris, the owner wanted interiors that
were "livable" as he entertains a great
deal and has a dog as well. He did not
want anything that was too formal.
Deniot did a wonderful job in designing
and renovating the interiors of this very
outdated chateau. When the owner
bought the place, it had only one working
bathroom. Chantilly is the name of the
chateau.

Here's the cover - one of the guest
bedrooms on its own.

The sunlight looks amazing in this place.

The modern take on a classic clawfoot
tub, the orange and gray are an
unexpected surprise.

This room looks quite modern.

And Monsieur Jean-Louis Deniot himself.
He's actually quite young :-)

So what do you all think of Chantilly and
Jean-Louis Deniot's interiors?

Black, White, and Red All Over

Anne Hathaway in Marchesa

Red was the overwhelming color of choice at this year's 80th Annual Academy Awards which took place on Sunday night. Other notable trends include draped dresses and mermaid silhouettes. There was a three-way tie for favorite in my eyes. I loved that the usually laid-back, un-fussy Jennifer Garner looked edgy and glamorous and anyone who knows me, knows my affinity for black clothing. Then, there is the lovely, classic Anne Hathaway in a gorgeous Marchesa gown reminiscent of a sea-foam gown Kate Winslet wore a few years ago. Rounding out my top three is the stunning Helen Mirren. I would love to age as well as she has. She exudes a type of confidence and sensuality that rivals that of many actresses half her age.

Jennifer Garner in Oscar de la Renta

Helen Mirren in George Chakra

Marion Cotillard in Jean Paul Gaultier

Heidi Klum in John Galliano - I can't decide if I love or hate this dress. One thing's for sure, it fits her beautifully. Then again, she's Heidi Klum. Everything fits her beautifully.

How to Incorporate the Swedish Style

Many of you have asked how to incorporate the Swedish Style into your own homes. You do not need to have rooms exclusively with one period or style. It is best to mix things up a bit to add interest into your room.
Notice the examples below.

This room has a traditional feel, but notice the Mora Clock and Swedish style bench. Adding a Swedish accent or two really adds to the interest of the room. Also notice the desk chair.

Here is the room from a different angle. Notice the side table - not Swedish -

but it adds interest, doesn't it?

Finally, a sweet, Swedish chair as an accent. Lovely.
I love the symmetry in this room. Notice the antique sofas, bench, and the painted table. Great introduction of the "signature Swedish blue" color.

Here is a room much less formal. The Bellman style chairs lend a "Swedish feel". This room would as appropriate in the mountains as in the city.

Another room with Bellman chairs - I love the checked skirts-
a very Swedish touch!
The Kitchen Designer
Finally notice the Swedish influence in this kitchen. There are so many white kitchens. In this kitchen they chose a monochromatic palette, Swedish slat back chairs and striped woven rugs. A great look for a beach house.
As you can see adding just a few Swedish elements can give you this wonderful feeling without breaking your budget!
