Life Drawing...

In the Denon Gallery at the Louvre there is a very small Picasso and Delacroix exhibition, which is in addition to the Picasso and Grand Masters show at the Grand-Palais. There are probably only about twenty or thirty paintings on show, but each is exquisite and masterful.

As wonderful as it was to see these masterpieces the thing I loved the most was the students drawing in the sculpture gallery - there they sat working under the watchful eyes of their teachers. Full of concentration for their subject they seemed to me entirely dedicated to their task, very unlike my memories of school day art excursions.

The Picasso-Delacroix exhibition at the Denon runs until February 2nd and is open every day.

The draw goes on for the books so please leave a comment and click here to subscribe to French Essence (don't forget to activate your subscription afterwards).
