Ian Schrager 's Gramercy Park Hotel in NYC

Ian Schrager is the creator of the boutique hotel.
He started this trend with his late business
partner Steve Rubell who created Studio 54 in
the 70's and 80's. Their first hotel, Morgans Hotel,
was opened in 1984 and first introduced the
concept of Boutique Hotel to the world. The
Gramercy Park Hotel is one of his latest of a
long successful string of boutique hotels and is
really quite something.

The chandelier in the lobby is quite dramatic.

One of their one room suites. Bold contemporary colors
are mixed with traditional furnishings to create very
classy rooms.

A fire place in one of their penthouse suites.

Love the tufted blue ottoman!

Green and Red can be quite great
as a pair outside of Christmas.

The beautifully appointed bathrooms.
Love the black marble.

The painting in the bar area is very outstanding.

Hotel rooms start from $545-$750 USD and go up
depending on the time of year. One can dream.
Otherwise, we can always take inspiration from
this hotel without it costing a dime.

And of course stay tuned for the second
part on this wonderful boutique hotel.
