The Window Shopper...Part 1.

Window shopping is a favourite past time of mine and an easy habit to acquire. It is a sport that most of us can participate in and play with little difficulty; the only handicaps are the habitual wish lists and the occasional sore feet. Window shopping is great on the eyes, easy on the purse and the best part, it tops up the creative tank. Saint Remy de Provence, the village closest to where I live in southern France is home to some of the cutest little shops I know. Sometimes these shops are filled with everything you want to buy and sometimes they are bursting with bits and pieces that you could never imagine finding a home.

Le Grand Magasin is an unexpected surprise in the village. Walking into this shop is how I imagine it would be if I could click my fingers and enter Aladdin's cave - this boutique is overflowing with every accessory and object that I would love to take home. The finest cashmere scarves, the coolest vintage sunglasses, the chunkiest bakerlite bangles, the most fab jewellery from the 50's onwards - these things are just a smidgeon of what is on offer inside.

If you continue walking down the rue de la Commune, on the right hand side of the street, you will find Le Bazar Saint Remois the sister shop to Le Grand Magasin. This is that shop I mentioned - you know the one with absolutely nothing you need but the one with everything that looks totally irresistible. Le Bazar is just that, a little shop where fun items are the stock trade. The perfect shop to stop for something out of the ordinary.
