thinking of paris...lingerie and Lace

The French girl loves her lingerie and every village, town or city is witness to this. No matter how small the French village there will always be one or even two lingerie shops. Like the lotions and potions from the pharmacy and the latest cut and colour at the hairdresser, the proper lingerie is a French girl's staple. So as I was reading a few fashion magazines over the weekend and duly noted that we will be wearing our inner wear on our outer bodies this season, I got to thinking about my favourite French lingerie lines and the prettiest stores to look at in Paris.

Sabbia Rosa, this boutique is well known for beautifully made silk camisoles and night wear trimmed with delicate laces. These exquisite pieces are a small investment but as that is the logic behind the French girl's wardrobe, less is more and quality is everything, then a piece from Sabbia Rosa could be the place to start the portfolio.

Chantal Thomass is the pink and black shrine to femininity on the rue Saint Honore. Her choice of wispy sheer fabrics and designs, often inspired by historical figures such as Marie Antoinette, means that what appears to be sheer nothingness on the hanger can do a multitude of much on the figure. My pick - her fabulous tights and stockings.

Fifi Chachnil is my DD's favourite. This range of underwear and sleep wear is slightly younger, less sophisticated and fun. With adorable retro styles in pretty fabrics and lots of baby doll style nighties, I know why she found it hard to resist.

And as for my best French lingerie lines, I love: Barbara, Aubade, Lise Charmel and Simone Perele.....so when in Paris do as French girls do...xv
