Sherryll Jackman - A designer where the sun Shines all the time

Sherryll Jackman hails from the sunny land of San Diego, California.

She is an incredibly versatile designer who also holds a real estate

license and general contractor's license along with her design degree.

She is the proud owner of The Jackman Group which is her design

company and owns a successful home furnishings company which she

runs with her daughter called Seaside Home.

I was really drawn to her above design. The color palette and

sophisticated yet inviting design really attracted me.

I've been seeing more statues of large animals

lately but I do like Blanc de Chine and these

two dogs are great examples.

Love the use of Chinese Mandarins for art on the

wall - juxtaposed with a wild zebra chair and modern

but classy furnishings.

She seems to have an asian element in many of

her designs. I for one, am not objecting to that -

nor am I objecting to the very inviting wing chair

in velvet.

Can't go wrong with creams and white.

Very chic dresser. I see that Ms Sherryll

also likes animal prints. She does not over

do it though. Just the right touch of it in

the overall scheme of things.

This is a very traditional looking tradition

which I adore the floor tiling she used.

A very elegant bath tub.

Again, love the the tiles and pattern of the flooring.

Ooh I'm used to seeing granite counter tops but not

the same slabs of granite for the flooring. Very neat!

This would be a bathroom any girl

or daughter would Love!

The Butler's Pantry

Who doesn't love the look of a traditional Butler's Pantry? The Butler's Pantry is making a comeback in American and English homes as part of a resurgence of nesting and homekeeping since the late 1990s. It is one of the most requested features in American homes today, despite larger kitchen sizes than ever before. There is a charm and nostalgia to the pantry, as well as a practical, utilitarian purpose.

This lovely pantry is in Washington, DC. I adore the way the upper cabinets sit directly on the marble countertop. I love the use of the traditional marble and bin pulls with the contemporary chandelier.

In America, pantries evolved from Early American "butteries", built in a cold north corner of a Colonial home, more commonly referred to and spelled as "butt'ry", into a variety of pantries in self-sufficient farmsteads. Butler's pantries, or china pantries, were built between the dining room and kitchen of a middle class English or American home, especially in the latter part of the 19th into the early 20th centuries.

The pantry above has drawer fronts which conceal cabinets and appliances. The designer liked the sleek look of all drawers so he had false drawers made to give the pantry an old world feel. Notice also the use of different "period tiles" including hexagon on the floor and subway tiles on the walls. All this topped off with beadboard, veined soapstone and upper sliding cabinet doors.

This is a bit too formal for my taste, but I included it because I think it is interesting to note the wonderful use of lighting in this space. Notice the under cabinet and inside cabinet lighting; the chandelier, sconces and recessed ceiling lights. Very good lighting design that gives this pantry a special jewel box feeling.

I live in a classic 1930's Royal Barry Wills Colonial. I have a 7 foot by 8 foot butler's pantry that I am renovating back to its original splendor over the summer. I have had the help of a very talented cabinet maker that shares my vision. Together we have created a very special space. Now you have seen my inspiration photos. Gorgeous cabinetry, latches, bin pulls, glass doors and marble. I am so excited to see it come to fruition. I will share my pictures when it is complete!

Eclectic Home

The current owner's eclectic taste is reflected in the dining room.

A very cool house just came on the market in Houston's West University neighborhood (home to the fabulous Joni of Cote de Texas fame). West U, as Houstonians call it, is known for its high-end real estate, its proximity to the medical center and the city's best shopping, dining, and fine arts district, as well as its small town feel.

This five bedroom house was built in 1997 and features four full and two half baths, over 5,000 square feet of living space, custom cabinetry and paneling, lighting, and finishes throughout, and a pool for the Texas heat. I love the eclectic, funky look of the house. The finishes, particularly the paneling in the kitchen and the geometric wall in the secondary bathroom are quite unique and although one could easily picture them in Metropolitan Home, they are unusual for Houston, which makes me love them even more. Overall, I get the impression that the family who lives here has a great sense of humor and knows how to have fun.

The built-ins and paneling in the study are decidedly modern (and refreshing) for Houston.

The bright Master Bath is a very nice size

I just love this kids' room! The color palette is so fun and I really like the fact that there is symmetry present in almost every element. I particularly love the bedspreads and the rolling bunk bed ladder.

Whats your dream bathroom look like?

I only have one bathroom in my house. To make matters worse, its very tiny. This all made me wonder, what would I want in a bathroom? Lots of light for one. Natural light is the best and if I could have privacy along with that big window in the top picture, well perfection! I know the trend is for matte fixtures these days, but I love shiny chrome. Lastly for my big ticket wish, a bathroom that opened up to a pool, would be so wonderful. So whats your dream bath all about?
