Another Gorgeous Campion Platt Space - Contemporary White Soho Loft

I especially love this Campion Platt designed condo for it's
luxurious textures.  Love the soft shaggy rug with velvet,
mirrors and other glamorous yet comfortable fabrics and
touches.

I'm always a fan of sun rooms and this one is super cozy!

 Chic white dining space.

Isn't the stone in the bathroom just fabulous?

Gorgeous backlit Onyx countertop in the bathroom.

A fantastic design for a smaller room.  The
layers really make the room cozy.  Platt
uses so many luxurious layers great space
planning.

A warm bedroom with colors used in a subtle way.

Can I please have this bedroom?

Premium balcony and outdoor space in NYC.

If you like Campion Platt's designs, I highly recommend
the above book.  I just received it this week and the book
covers some of the best residential spaces and homes that
Platt has designed.  Platt manages to layer with
sophistication in a way that is streamlined and simple -
his designs do not seem overdone or too much.

Real Estate Stalking - Gorgeous Midcentury Modern Eichler

There are so many gorgeous rooms in this house I couldn't
decide which one to showcase first. I decided to settle for
the kitchen. I don't know if many of you know, but I am a
huge fan of Midcentury modern Eichler homes. This one
just came onto the market north of San Francisco and it is
absolutely gorgeous. It's a gallery Eichler styled home that
was very tastefully renovated and the home was extended
to 2,400 square feet. I'm not even a huge fan of gallery
kitchens but I like this one.

Now to pull back from the grandeur
to a more humble entrance.

Eichler homes are always designed with atriums in the
middle of the home - it's sort of a signature of the unique
architectural style.

This atrium or courtyard is absolutely fabulous -
complete with the perfectly balanced landscaping.

Always tons of windows that let a lot of light in.

With prominent ceiling beams. It's neat that
the flooring to this room is sealed cement.

A cozy little dining area.

And a very spacious master bedroom - again with
the floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors.

This looks like a small bathroom - but it's not.

It's a gorgeous bathroom complete with a full tub and
glass enclosed shower. Whoever designed and chose
the fixtures and the furniture in the home did a fantastic
job.

Here's another look at the lovely bathroom.

This photo really says it all - quintessential midcentury
modern design. It's absolutely wonderful.

What's great is that this home has a view as well.

You don't find many midcentury modern homes in such
fantastic condition and with such views. Now if I only had
$1,550,000 USD laying around...

Hope you enjoyed the tour.

Eichler Homes: Design for Living

In the meantime, if you're interested
in seeing or reading more about Eichler
homes, here are a couple of great books.

Eichler: Modernism Rebuilds
the American Dream

This book is in black and white. The Eichler
home is named after Joseph Eichler who initially
designed these homes en masse. Can you imagine
owning a track home that looked like the above
home? He designed huge tracts of track homes in
the 1950's and 1960's. To this day, his homes are
highly in demand and they are still as hip as ever.
His firm designed and built over 11,000 homes in
Northern and Southern California and they've come
to be known as simply "Eichlers."

Ikea Inspiration: A Scandinavian Abode - Modern, Colorful, Simple

I'm telling you, the Scandinavians really have the right idea
when it comes to affordable design whether it be furnishings
or fashion (hello Ikea and H&M.) Their just in time model of
manufacturing is second to none in the world. Can you believe
that H&M can take a design from paper to the actual stores
in less than a month? Anyways, Trudi of The Deco Detective
has really got me hooked on some of these Scandinavian homes
and publications.

I totally Adore the home and space above. Anyone could so
design a home like the above with just Ikea and some creative
ideas. The space above is a bit odd but the open plan really
makes up for it.

I love the way the Scandinavians juxtapose modern touches
with wood and organic elements like the pickled floor.

A nice little space for a coat room.

Notice the rustic beams at the top of the vaulted ceiling.

The glas sliding doors really brighten
up the kitchen and dining space.

Pops of color in all the right places can really
make a difference.

Isn't the back splash design fun?

What a fun pattern for a sofa.

A Japanese tea set with different colored tea.

And at the end of a long day, what could be
better than a bath?

I hope this home has given you more inspiration
that it's totally possible to have a chic place to live
solely with furniture from Ikea and thrift shops.

Bright and Breezy Modern Home

Sometimes I'm really torn because I love romantic and
European homes. But I also really love bright and modern
homes as well. I suppose it's why my style is so eclectic.

I totally fell in love with how bright and open this modern
home is. The wood floors and surfaces are fantastic as well
of the windows that create such a bright space.

This is the outside of the home. It seems so open
which seems to be perfect in this tropical setting.

Somehow, the inside of this
bedroom reminds me of a boat.

A very clever layout for a small bathtub.
The oblong window really makes this
bathroom unique.

How about them red doors for some color.

And a gorgeous outdoor deck to hang out in.

If not outside, then perhaps a sunroom with a lot of windows.

I hope all of you modern architecture lovers out there enjoyed
this post. Any other modern home lovers out there? I particularly
love Eichler and mid-century styled homes myself.

Modern Architecture with an Asian Twist

I totally fell in love with this house that was designed by Marc Whipple of the Russ Group Architects in Los Angeles. They've done many projects from a variety of private residences to the Los Angeles Natural History Museum to the Arena Soccer Complex in Burbank. This modern house has asian overtones in its design with a great view from the Hollywood Hills.

I am going away for Christmas and will return on New Year's Eve. So this post has a ton of photos for you to enjoy - hopefully as much as I have.

A peak at the Fabulours backyard~

I love the front of the house with strong Asian influences.

The woods used on this house are gorgeous - including the
front gade made of red-tinted wood.

Solid Wood Garage door. Wow!

Love the glass tiles.

Another bedroom with an outlook to the backyard.
The glass leaves such an airy feeling.

Another Guest Bath with gorgeous stone tiles.

The shape of the leather table is unique.

The detail on this wood block with the natural crevices
is really neat.

I wouldn't mind having to look at this view every night.
