Kristin Scott Thomas' performance is heart wrenching as a woman returning to civilian life after her incarceration and Elsa Zylberstein, who plays her sister, is equally as strong in the supporting role. I have seen most of Kristin Scott Thomas' movies and also I have watched her perform on the stage in London so I am a bit of a fan - but always in the English language. She was just as impressive and believable speaking in French albeit with a slight English accent. I admire her ability to express profound emotion in a second language.
This is not the movie to see if you are down in the dumps, but if you feel like a solid dose of drama (can handle subtitles) and don't mind the emotional turmoil, it is superb.
