Candace Olson is a genius when it comes to total renovations
and overhauls. When it comes to kitchens, she is definitely
the queen. If I were to choose any designer to build my
dream kitchen, it would Candace Olson hands down.
Her signature trademark for many of her kitchen countertops
is quartz which is beautiful and more durable than granite.
Granite will stain and so having really light colors for granite
counter tops actually takes a lot of work to upkeep.
Above is one of my favorite modern kitchens that she has
designed with bright white surfaces, a cook top on the island
and her use of fabrics for a window seat to soften the hard
surfaces and lines.
I think her most glamorous kitchen renovation was this
art deco styled kitchen. She used gorgeous marble for
the countertops. The showstopper had to be the floors which
I totally fell in love with - mosaic tiles in black and white
in a simple repeating pattern.
This was the kitchen before the art deco makeover.
It was an extremely awkward space and she extended
the outer wall of the house to make more room.
Gray, white and black are really starting to grow on me
for a kitchen. One could argue that gray is cold and uninviting
but the right gray with white and black can really make
a crisp and bold statement. Check out the back splash as
well as the striped floor!
This owner wanted something more traditional.
This couple really loved dark woods. It's
got an upscale masculine feel to it.
I really loved how Candace blended traditional style with
modern design here. It's not an easy mix when it comes
to kitchens. You've got to strike just the right balance.
I am a huge fan of open space planning for kitchens.
Walls just seem to really close the space in.
Something bold with color? No problem, Candace has
something up her sleeve for everyone. The cabinets
in this kitchen are actually the original but painted
over with a paint treatment. Amazing what just a
paint job can do.
