Antiques and Flea Market Shopping in London England

Continuing off inspiration from Lonny magazine, there
is a section in their latest issue on flea markets and
antiques.  I don't know about you, but I am totally a
self professed flea market, antiques and thrift shop
addict.  I can spend literally hours or a whole day
shopping at an antiques or flea market.

If you're in London, there are some famous streets for
antiques shopping.

Cath Kidston's suggestion above which names the
most well known antiques shopping arcades and
open air antiques and flea market on Portobello
Road.

Rachel Ashwell of Shabby Chic gives
her tips for shopping on Portobello Road.

It seems to be a unanimous tip to shop
there on Friday and to avoid Saturday.

If you're going to be in London any time soon and
you're interested in visiting antiques stores, this book
is a great book that gives good details to the flea and
antiques market in London.

Any of you have gone antiquing or flea market shopping
around the world?  If so, where have you gone and where
are your favorite places?

Thrift Shop Addict - Part II

More thrift store finds in my collection. I also want to re-iterate that The Thrift Shopper is a great resource that lists thrift shops nationwide (in the US.) I also love to shop at Goodwill.

I can't seem to get away from collecting teacups and
espresso cups!

Bought these two fabulous belts at about $1.00 USD each.

Went to a local thrift shop that had a beautiful array
of fabrics!! I can make some pillow covers or other decor
items with these finds.

Love the turquoise hound's tooth fabric.

I really like how shiny this flower pot is :-)

Thrift Shop Addict - Part I

I am a total thrift shop addict. Maybe it's the hunt or bargain or something that's so appealing together. I've scoured many thrift shops in my area and I've got many more to go. This is a great resource for finding thrift shops in your area - it is a nationwide guide to thrift shops. The Thrift Shopper. Goodwill also has a website where you can actually bid on certain items across America. Shop Good Will. I love Good Will, Salvation Army, independent thrift stores and etc. Even if they are a chain, every store has different items that they take and specialize in. Here are my latest finds.

Love faux Bamboo. I was excited when I found that frame.
I also have an addiction to glassware.

Moroccan Tea cups.

I'm usually more of a glam person but the rose vase caught
my eye. And the ship bottle, I can't explain why I liked it
so much. It was an impulse buy. I like the luster of it.
White glass vase on the left - I love vintage glass as well
and collect it. A pair of carnival glass bowls in the back.

Ok there are two photos here of the same thing. I had to show
you how cool this pillow I found is! One side is purple and the
otherside has a blue chinoise pattern. The vintage lamp is
now in our office.

More to come later for more thrift shop finds.
