Coastal New England Ocean Oasis

One of my favorite parts of writing Willow Decor is getting to know the many other talented designers, architects, artists and residential photographers that make these beautiful spaces come alive. Meeting photographer Jamie Salomon was one of these special connections. Whether you are aware of it or not, you most likely have already seen his work. It has been featured in many magazines including, Coastal Living, Better Homes and Gardens, New England Home and several others.
He shared with me this wonderful cottage renovation on the New England coast. As you can see the home is located out on a peninsula. At high tide it becomes an ocean oasis. Though small, it is filled with everything you need to relax. The main room above features a kitchen nook and desk area.
Decorated in soothing whites and grays it is impossible not feel your tension rush away with tide. The cottage is sparsely decorated; intentional so you take in the spectacular ocean views. Here is the couch area from a different angle. I love the whitewashed walls which remind me of sun -bleached driftwood.
Opposite the seating area is a ladder to the loft above and a daybed tucked below. As you can imagine the views from every direction are breathtaking.
Here is a close up of the daybed overflowing with soft pillows. The wonderful sconces provide just the right light for curling up with a good book. With this view I am quite sure I would never leave - it gives a whole new meaning to word "bed-rest"!
Except of course to sit out on the deck and cast my line - Perhaps fish for dinner??
Have a wonderful relaxing weekend!

Love ... Jane Donaldson

Mend It

How to mend it - that unravelled part of what used to be whole in her ... could it be done alone ... would it require a skill  that was more than hers to give ... would they come to help set her right - would there always be the mark - would she always see the prick and stitch of her past.

Seeded

Who was she really she wondered ... how would she find out she worried ... cautiously looking inward and with particular attention to the best of that which she found, she began to tender and care - to prune and to grow those parts.  She discovered finally what she did not at first see - that she was always there - just waiting to be found ... needing to be grown.

Only What You See

To know what she would be and what was to come for her was all she wished for ... and yet she knew that it was only in the doing and in the being that she would find her wish - that the living of the unknown and the breathing of a new day would bring the discovery of that unlit path that was hers alone to pursue.

In Me

One day she found in herself her true self  ... with careful attention she grew that truth, lived it and became beautiful - the way only she could be - the way she was meant to be ...

Nothing Left to Say

Relationships change and friends move on and sometimes there's just nothing left to say ...

Strange Places

Taken so far from her place of belonging  ... she seeks it onward, around and backward, not knowing when but knowing still that one day she would return to the beginning again.

Need Me

With arms outstretched and aching, she waits and wonders how they could survive without her  ... and if she will survive without them.

Ladies who Lunch...

To see how the very glam French chickies 'do lunch' I would never look further than L'Avenue in Paris. This Jacques Garcia designed eatery is in the heart of what is known as the golden triangle. That means the upmarket shopping area around Avenue Montaigne, Avenue Georges V, Rue Marbeuf and Rue Pierre Charon in the eighth arrondissement. When the delights of Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior and Givenchy become too much this is the restaurant where the serious shoppers take sustenance, albeit small bites of it.

Order sparingly otherwise the spell will well and truly be broken as you sip your last drop of espresso and reach for the bill.
L'Avenue is a fabulous place to listen, look and learn. xv
