Farmstay Vacation

Ever considered a Farmstay vacation for the family?  Well here's a glamorous
and fun way to stay on a farm with the entire family to enjoy all the fun things
at a farm without the grueling work.  Isn't the above tent fun?  At Kinnikinnick
Farms located 85 miles northwest of Chicago, you can stay on a farm in a tent
like this for about $189 - $239.  It sleeps up to 6 depending on which tent you
choose.  I love the rustic inspiration of a tent.  I loved tents as a child and don't
think I ever really outgrew them.

Isn't it a gorgeous setting?  There's a lot of activities available as well.

Hot piping breakfast!

The tents have plumbing and kitchens.

Here's a closer look at one of the tents.  Isn't it fun?
Kind of glamping.

Sleeping quarters.

And after all, the tent is on a working farm.  Isn't a red barn
quintessentially American?

An honest to goodness oven to bake bread in.

You can pick your own fresh produce.

Or just have fun in the pumpkin patches.

Plenty of farm animals to follow around.

Or play with.

Gorgeous forested areas to play in.

Complete with a campfire at night.

It's fun for the adults too.  If you're interested in this Farmstay, you
can find more information at featherdown.com.  Otherwise, if you're
like me - there was a lot of farm and rustic inspiration in the tents
above.

Who is your favourite? I am loving the fluffy finishings of Hillary Swank and Halle Berry...Ann Hathaway is very gorgeous in that red rocker...and Reese Witherspoon so sweet and quietly elegant...Helen Mirren... wearing Vivienne Westwood and a to-die-for Cartier necklace...always and forever an inspiration...
Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett...I am not convinced...What do you think?

Currently Loving…

samperton6

I’m in Los Angeles, where I’ll be speaking at the Design Bloggers Conference today. Being here has me in a “California state of mind”, so I am currently loving what I consider to be one of the most quintessentially chic California looks: Spanish architectural details, white walls, pops of colors, brilliant textiles and a fabulous mix of vintage and antique objects with a little attitude. Kathryn Ireland and Peter Dunham are masters of this style and I definitely think Schuyler Samperton’s beautifully designed rooms fit the category to a tee. Once you take a look at these gorgeous rooms designed by Samperton, I have a feeling you’ll have California on your minds, too.

Living Small: Tiny Bedroom

This tiny bedroom by Jen Chu is every New Yorkers dream. It's small on size but it’s big on character. Not only does she fit a large four poster bed into this tiny room but she also manages to carve out a spot for a well organized office. The dark ceiling paint advances the ceiling downward to create a warm cozy feel in an otherwise light and bright space. The glitzy chandelier is just icing on the cupcake...Happy Decorating Everyone!

Small Space Tips from This Room:
1. Dark paint can create a warm and cozy feel in a small space
2. If you can’t build out, build up
3. Stay organized
4. The contrast between light and dark colors can be a beautiful thing
